Up For a Challenge? Join us as the winners of the 2018 Grand Design Challenge walk you through the process of planning, building, and presenting ITEEA’s Elementary STEM Council’s Annual Global Design Challenge for Elementary STEM Students.

Mrs. Tracy Young is the STEAM Specialist at Benton Hall Academy in Little Falls, NY. Mrs. Young is the Engineering byDesign instructor for over 500 students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Three of Mrs. Young’s fifth grade students won the 2018 ITEEA Elementary STEM Council’s Grand Design Challenge.

In 2018, Mrs. Young was also awarded the Observer Dispatch’s Amazing Teacher Award. This is her third year using the EbD program. Mrs. Young was previously a first grade teacher and is in her 26th year of teaching.

Librarians are asked to support a long list of literacies. Recently added to the list is STEM literacy – but it turns out to be a very effective match! This one-hour STEMinar is filled with ideas for librarians who would like to collaborate more with STEM educators in their building, district, and/or state.

Deborah Marshall is the Career & Technical Education Department Chair at Granby High School, Norfolk, VA. She has been Teacher of the Year, collaborated on state technology initiatives, presented Train the Trainer professional developments throughout Virginia, National Tech & Learning Events, showcased at the ITEEA Conference, and has been published in geography, library, technology, and science journals.  

Lisa Ward is a Librarian at Granby High School, Norfolk, VA. She is National Board Certified and is a former Adjunct at Old Dominion University. She has been Regional Librarian of the Year, Teacher of the Year, collaborated on state technology initiatives, presented at professional developments throughout Virginia, National Tech & Learning Events and showcased at at the 2019 ITEEA Conference. Her articles have been published in geography, library, technology, and science journals.
