Biography
Dr. Joey Rider-Bertrand is the Director of Instructional Services at Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13, an educational service agency in Pennsylvania. In this role, she leads the department at IU13 that supports teaching and learning, student services, nonpublic education, and community education. Prior to her current position, Dr. Rider-Bertrand has served as the K-12 Coordinator for Science and Technology Education in Manheim Township School District in Lancaster, PA, the Supervisor of Secondary STEM Education in Lower Merion School District, Ardmore, PA, a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist for STEM at IU13, and the Program Director for Teaching and Learning at IU13. Dr. Rider-Bertrand is a Past-President of the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association and served as the Southern Regional Representative of the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association. She is the founder of STEMATHON, the creator of ITEEA’s Engineering byDesign TEEMS Integrative Curriculum for Elementary STEM, and served as the field editor of Children’s Technology and Engineering from 2012-2014. Dr. Rider-Bertrand has received a number of honors including recognition as a PA Technology Integrator “Keystone,” Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, ITEEA-CSL’s Supervisor of the Year, and the Lockette/Monroe Humanitarian Award.
