Biography
Virginia R Jones, Ph.D., is the former Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Services at Patrick Henry Community College. She worked in promoting technology opportunities for students as well as serving as an advisor for STEM education for the college. Virginia has a Bachelor of Science from Averett University in Business Management, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Longwood University, and a doctor of philosophy in STEM and Professional Studies from Old Dominion University. She has worked in public education as a supervisor for career pathways in secondary education and as a career and technology education teacher in business and information technology. Currently, she serves as an adjunct faculty for undergraduate, and graduate studies in STEM and Professional Studies at Old Dominion University. Virginia's research focus is on underserved populations in STEM careers and STEM teaching. She serves as a co-field editor for The Elementary STEM journal and is President-Elect of the Elementary STEM council. Virginia was honored as an Emerging Leader in Technology Education by ITEEA in 2015, Darden College of Education Fellow in 2015 for STEM and Professional Studies by ODU, 21st Century Fellow in 2017, DTE in 2018, and Outstanding Adjunct Faculty at Old Dominion University in STEM and Professional Studies in 2021.
