Biography
Liesl Krause is a second-year Ph.D. student at Purdue Polytechnic Technology, Leadership, and Innovation and a Purdue Doctoral Fellow. She graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 2016, she graduated from Purdue University's Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering with a master's degree in biomedical engineering in 2018. During her time at Villanova, she mentored other engineering students, was a TA, and a tutor. In the Weldon School, she TAed for several courses, received a summer fellowship in honor of her teaching abilities and was Purdue's Master-level candidate for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools teaching award. Liesl greatly enjoys helping fellow students and hopes to one day become a professor. In the past, she has been recognized by the Society for Applied Spectroscopy for outstanding research as an undergraduate student. Her current research involves studying mental health in engineering graduate students, especially as it relates to empathy of their advisers. Related to her current research, she is a social media coordinator for PhD Balance - a company helping to provide community and resources to graduate students internationally. She is also the social media coordinator for ASEE at Purdue and AEEE.
