Welcome to the INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION (ITEA). Established in 1939, the ITEA provides technology teachers, supervisors/administrators, teacher educators, and interested stakeholders a means to: define, stimulate, and coordinate the ideal form of technology education as a vital aspect of education for all students at each educational level; and promote improvement of the quality of instruction in technology education by assisting educators, students, and stakeholders who are concerned with keeping the instructional content, methods and facilities current with the rapid changes in technology. The mission of the ITEA is to advance technological capabilities for all people and to nurture and promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. This Web site is designed to provide ITEA members and stakeholders a comprehensive range of resources for promoting the study of technology in grades K-12, higher education and in all aspects of technology-based topics, issues, and practices. The ITEA invites you to explore the many exciting resources that are available online. For example: the Standards for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology and the companion documents are an absolute "must have" for every technology professional; the IdeaGarden is a wonderful resource for teachers to discuss issues and share ideas; and the members only section of the Web site provides electronic copies of several association publications and other resources. In addition to the Web based electronic services and ongoing work pertaining to the development of standards based documents, the ITEA offers a wide range of printed material for promoting the study of technology and curriculum resources for classroom and laboratory implementation. Please take a look at the 2003 ITEA Publications Catalog to see the selection of items that are available. Further, state level and regional professional development opportunities are available through CATTS (Center to Advance Teaching Technology and Science). If you are visiting the Web site for the first time, we wish to invite you to become a member of the ITEA and participate in the association. Your suggestions and contributions are encouraged, so that we can build and maintain the services you’ll need and use for the challenge of the 21st century. Finally, please make plans now to attend the ITEA 66th Annual Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, March 18-20, 2004. We'll see you there! The Board of Directors and headquarters staff is here to serve your needs. If there is ever anything that we can do to help you improve teaching and learning about technology, please don't hesitate to contact us.
