Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition
2020 Theme: “Reducing Individual Impacts"
May 8, 2020 – Registration Ends
May 13, 2020 – Papers Due
Due to the ongoing and ever-changing situation surrounding COVID-19, the Clean Tech Competition has made the decision to adjust our timeline, with registration now ending on Friday May 8th, paper submissions due on Wednesday, May 13th, and our Finals will now be held in early August. We are working diligently on a new Finals date (full timeline adjustment here), and will announce as soon as we have one! While we are saddened by the circumstances that led us to make this difficult decision, we hope that this extension will allow Teams to complete their research, and not feel as rushed as they may have been. Many of our Competitors have had their school year upended by the ongoing crisis, and therefore their research as well. This will be the final adjustment to our timeline, so make it count!
The Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition is looking for any 15-18 year old with a solution to slow our resource drain, and as we are all virtual until our August Finals, we are moving ahead! Topics over the past 9 years have tackled everything from clean water and solar energy to food production and pollution, all revolving around a single purpose: to create a greener and sustainable future. This year’s theme is perhaps the most personal and direct, with our categories allowing us to address the breadth of potential situations; whether someone lives with Limited Resources or Abundant Resources, we are fighting for a solution to be utilized by all.
If you are or know a student looking to address this international issue with innovative engineering and a revolutionary design, this is the Competition for you! Contestants research a specific solution to this problem, register for free online in teams of 1-3, and then submit a 5-15 page paper to be judged by an international team of engineers, university instructors, and industry professionals! Finalist teams will present their research and constructed prototypes at our Finals in early August, as they vie for the $10,000 per category grand prize!
Our website below has a wealth of information, including all rules, regulations, important dates, prizes and more. We have information on all of our past winning projects as well, so you can see many of the innovative ways our past Finalists have researched solutions to the questions we pose!
