See how Lincoln Parish is using its new STEM Center to increase STEM interest, positively affect academic achievement, promote skills development, and impact workforce potential and success for ALL students. See how the targeted spaces within the facility are being utilized for integrated STEM experiences, coding, robotics, and engineering design, as well as the planning process used to develop experiential learning opportunities for all grade levels and learning abilities.

Cox-Boniol.jpgCathi Cox-Boniol currently serves as a STEM Consultant with Side by Side Strategies as well as adjunct faculty for her alma mater, Louisiana Tech University. Considered a pioneer within STEM teaching and learning in Louisiana, she recently retired after 38 years in public education and has been recognized at the local, state, and national levels for her innovative instructional strategies and professional accomplishments.

Serving as the Louisiana Director for the ITEEA Engineering byDesign Consortium within the STEM Center for Teaching and Learning, she has co-authored three books designed to assist teachers in implementing engineering design in their classrooms. Named Chair of the Louisiana Department of Education Science Standards Review that established the first new standards in more than 20 years, Cathi earned the distinction of “Louisianian of the Year” for her activism and advocacy around STEM education and received ITEEA's Public Understanding of Technology and Engineering Education Award. Engaged in the North Louisiana Stakeholder group for the LaSTEM Council, she is also a state facilitator and trainer for the OpenSciEd Pilot.

Wooley.jpgMissy Wooley earned a Master of Education plus 30 in Administration and Supervision from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Mrs. Wooley is the Director of the Lincoln Parish STEM Center,which opened its doors in September of 2019. Prior to that, she was an education consultant with the Louisiana Department of Education for two years and an adjunct faculty member for Louisiana Tech University where she taught a science methods course for elementary teachers. She served as a high school administrator for three years, and she taught high school science for twenty years.

Mrs. Wooley is currently a member of the Louisiana Science Teachers Association, National Science Teachers Association, and ITEEA. She has presented at multiple conferences and provides professional development for science teachers across Louisiana. She is a facilitator for the OpenSciEdMiddle School Pilot Program.
