Biography
Andrew Jackson is an assistant professor of Workforce Education, with expertise related to Technology and Engineering Education, and Design. He completed his PhD in Technology through Purdue's Polytechnic Institute, with an emphasis on Engineering and Technology Teacher Education, and postdoctoral training at Yale University in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. He has been involved in the planning, implementation, and analysis of the NSF funded project, "Soft Robotics to Broaden the STEM Pipeline" (DRL 1513175). This multi-institution collaboration involved the adaptation of cutting-edge engineering research for feasibility in high-school classrooms, and the development of curriculum that was delivered to thousands of students in several states. Andrew's research interests are engineering design, self-efficacy, motivation, and decision making. He is a former middle-school technology teacher, and enjoys research that puts him in the classroom, interacting with students and teachers. Andrew is a 2017 Fellow of the ITEEA 21st Century Leadership Academy and the recipient of a 2015 Ross Fellowship from Purdue University. His ORCID ID is 0000-0003-2882-3052.
