Biography
Mr. Buttitta has been with North Brunswick BOE for over 14 years. He started the Technology & Engineering courses which include Robotics, Honors STEM: Robotics & Aerospace Engineering, Computer Aided Design, and Technology & Engineering ASD (autistic program). He continues to make his class creative and interesting for the students. For the last 3 years, he has participated in the Thomas Edison Challenge at NJIT along with his students and last year a team finished in 3rd place for all middle schools across the country. He also implemented a Mars Rover Design project along with NASA and the Mars Society. He designed the curriculum his classes and in 2011, Mr. Buttitta received the program excellence award for Linwood from the ITEEA. He received a master’s degree in Technology & Engineering and a STEM Education post-bachelors teaching certificate from Columbia Teachers College with Leadership Distinction. He received a NASA Endeavor Fellowship in 2008. He worked for Rutgers University during the summer on a research project through NASA and the Goddard Flight Center. He has coached the Linwood Football team for 5 years, South Brunswick Football for 8 years, Girls Basketball at the high school for 3 years and Linwood for 3 years, and boys high school baseball for 6 years. He mentors and volunteers some time with the high school robotics team and attend their events. He has participated in Family & STEM Nights at Linwood where students and parents get together and participate in projects together. He teaches outreach classes for NASA as a Solar System Ambassador at different venues. He has taught staff development classes for North Brunswick BOE and the NJ Technology & Engineering Teachers Association.
