WHAT IS IDEAGARDEN?

IdeaGarden is a free resource for registered ITEEA website users. This is an educator-to-educator resource for those wanting to know more about teaching Technology and Engineering Education for all students through an integrative STEM Education approach. This online sharing of information is an optimal way to share your best practices in delivering Technology and Engineering Education. The professionals in field will be adding their expertise and responses to the questions posted here. For over a decade, ITEEA's IdeaGarden has been a unique and highly rated resource. Classroom teachers and others have asked hundreds of questions, received answers, shared resources, offered encouragement, and expanded their professional networks.

WHO ARE THE FACILITATORS?

WHO ARE THE GARDENERS?

The Gardeners are typically classroom teachers but can include who is interested in the STEM Education field. If you are logged into the site as a registered user, you can see the IdeaGarden Subscribers tab on the IdeaGarden page. Clicking on a subscriber's name brings up the member's profile details and all posts made by that member. Gardeners can "follow" specific posters that interest them. Your own posts will be archived in your profile.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When a gardener posts a discussion, subscribers will receive an email with the post in its entirety. A link is provided for subscribers who want to respond to the post. Logging into the site is required to see and response to posts. Click the "Keep me signed in" checkbox. Do not log out from the site when you close your browser. If the site does not keep you signed in set your browser security settings to enable.

Users can easily submit a post from the Discussions tab. Type a title and your content. Attachments can be added using the paperclip in the bottom left corner of the post window. Your post will be sent to all subscribers via email. 

Reply to a post by selecting the "Add a Comment" button to the right of a post. If you would like to add an attachment you must start a new post. Just reference the title of the original post to help others follow the discussion.

IdeaGarden posts are archived. They are searchable by topic. To search a topic, enter the topic text in the filter search bar (located below the "Add a Post" section on the Discussions tab. 

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE THE POSTS IN MY EMAIL?

After a user “Joins the Group” they are an IdeaGarden subscriber and will begin to receive the post notification emails. At the bottom of the emails is a link to unsubscribe. Clicking this link will stop the email notifications. The member is still an IdeaGarden subscriber and can still participate through the website without getting emails.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

Log in to ITEEA's website - http://www.iteea.org and click the green login button. Your username is the email ITEEA has on record for you. If you don't know your password, click the "Forgot Your Login Information" link. Your password will be sent to you.

Next select IdeaGarden from the Community drop down menu. If you are an ITEEA member but have not yet clicked the "Join Group" button on the right, you can see the discussions but you will not receive email notifications with new posts. If you were a member of the previous IdeaGarden you must still click the "Join Group" button to resubscribe.
