Dr. Philip A. Reed, DTE obtained his PhD. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Technology Education and cognate in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2000. He is a Professor at Old Dominion University where he serves as the program leader for the Technology Education program and advisor for the ODU chapter of the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). Dr. Reed served as the seminal chair of the ODU STEMPS department from 2009-2013. The primary undergraduate teaching responsibilities for Dr. Reed include courses in curriculum, instructional methods, communication systems, and technology and society. In addition, he teaches graduate courses on administration and management, curriculum development, trends and issues, and workforce development. Dr. Reed conducts research on curriculum development and implementation in technology education, career and technical education, STEM education, and workforce development. His research has been funded by the U.S. Army, Virginia Department of Education, and the regional Workforce Investment Board, among others. Additionally, Dr. Reed was the co-editor of the 2010 Council on Technology and Engineering Teacher Education Yearbook, Research in Technology Education. In summary, Dr. Reed has over 25 years of teaching, administration, and research experience. His research efforts have led to over 40 publications and grants and contracts totaling approximately $1,000,000. In 2014 Dr. Reed was named the Outstanding Technology and Engineering Teacher Educator by the Council on Technology and Engineering Teacher Education.
