Barbato Elected Triangle Coalition President

RESTON, Virginia, January 14, 2015 – The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) is pleased to announce the election of ITEEA Executive Director/CEO Steven A. Barbato as President of the Board of Directors of the Triangle Coalition. Other newly elected Executive Committee members include Elizabeth Parry of the American Society of Engineering Education and Marc Apter of IEEE-USA.

The Triangle Coalition advocates for the improvement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the United States. Headquartered in the DC metro area, the Triangle Coalition is comprised of member organizations that represent business, education, and STEM societies nationwide. Triangle Coalition unifies the voices of these stakeholders through actions in three major areas: communication, advocacy, and programmatic efforts to advance STEM education for all students.
Responding to his selection, Barbato commented, “I look forward to supporting and contributing to the association’s efforts in building strong Integrative STEM education programs for all students! I am excited to be a part of this collaborative partnership with the Triangle Coalition, their members, and ITEEA.”

Barbato assumed the duties of ITEEA Executive Director/CEO on January 1, 2013. ITEEA is the professional organization for technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators. Its mission is to promote technological literacy for all by supporting the teaching of technology and promoting the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. ITEEA strengthens the profession through leadership, professional development, membership services, publications, and classroom activities.
