Have you ever wanted to know more about the students involved in ITEEA? Student members of ITEEA are part of the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). Did you know the TEECA students are very competitive? These students have the opportunity to compete in nine different academic challenges at the national conference. These events will be presented and discussed during this webinar. The nine challenges cover content in the following areas: Communications, Educational Displays, Graphic Design, Manufacturing, Problem Solving, Robotics, Teaching Lessons, Technology Challenge, and Transportation.
TEECA Presenter Bios:
Dr. Trevor Robinson
Trevor Robinson is currently a Professional Practice Assistant Professor in the School of Applied Sciences, Technology, and Education at Utah State University (USU), Brigham City. At USU Trevor teaches in the Technology Systems and Technology & Engineering Education programs, preparing general technologists and teachers. He teaches courses related to materials and processes, electronics, energy, power, and transportation, curriculum development, and action research. Trevor earned his Bachelor of Science in Technology Education from Ohio Northern University. He went on to complete his graduate work at Utah State University earning his MS in Engineering and Technology Education, and his PhD in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction emphasizing in technology and engineering education. Trevor participated in the 21st Century Leadership Academy through ITEEA during the 2017-2018 class. Since he was a graduate student, Trevor has been very involved with the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). He currently serves as the chapter advisor for USU. Trevor has served as a competitive event author or coordinator for the past 6 years (2013-2019). During the 2016-2017 school year, he served as the National Competitive Events Coordinator. Over the past two school years (2017-2019) Trevor served as the National Advisor for TEECA.
Benjamin Applegate is from Gilmore City, Iowa and currently attending The University of Northern Iowa majoring in Industrial Technology and Engineering Education with a Minor in Coaching. Benjamin is the current National TEECA Reporter and the UNI TEECA Chapter President. Benjamin will graduate in May 2019 and is looking forward to applying all that he has learned in his education and at ITEEA Conferences in his classroom to best educate students. He enjoys creating various woodworking projects in his free time and restoring antique tractors, gas engines, and cars. Benjamin also enjoys watching and playing sports. He can be seen cheering on his UNI Panthers, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Miami Heat, or the San Francisco 49ers.
Jackson Otto is currently a junior at Purdue University studying engineering technology teacher education with minors in organizational leadership, design and innovation, and global studies. He has been an active member of both ITEEA and TEECA over his past three years, acting as the Purdue TEECA chapter's Vice President and is currently serving as the President-Elect for the national student executive board. Outside of TEECA, Jackson is heavily involved on Purdue's campus in the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, Purdue University Dance Marathon, and the Purdue Old Masters program. With the limited free time he has, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends, and organizing his planner.
