NASA OPSPARC Engineering Design Challenge -- Student Mentoring Opportunity

Connect your students with NASA and college engineering students through the 2019 NASA OPTIMUS PRIME Spinoff Promotion and Research Challenge (NASA OPSPARC).

Mission 3 offers unique mentorship opportunities with college students.  Mentoring, building 3D virtual models, and developing a marketing plan all take place in a protected 3D virtual world!

Your students will learn from college engineering majors from across the country from schools such as: 

  • Florida International University, University of Houston, Old Dominion University, University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, Howard University, University of Vermont, Sitting Bull College, Texas A&M, University of Texas at Arlington, Arizona State University, Hampton University, and University of Virginia.

Keep these dates on your radar and follow the attached Road Map to Success.

  • Deadline for Mission 3 products is Tuesday, February 19.  
  • Selected Teams will be notified and introduced to their college mentor by Friday, February 22.
  • Mentors work with their teams in the virtual world between February 22 - March 26.
  • Six finalists will be selected by March 29.
  • Finalists present to NASA and industry researchers April 10 and 11 within the virtual world.
  • Winning teams announced by early May.
  • Winning teams invited to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for behind-the-scenes workshops and an award ceremony -- June 19 and 20
