ITEEA Participates at 2019 Georgia Engineering and Technology Education Association Conference

January 31, 2019

ITEEA had the pleasure to participate in the Georgia Engineering and Technology Education Association (GETEA) State conference held in Savannah this past week on January 25-26, 2019. There were many outstanding professional development sessions that included all facets and levels of STEM education. This year’s theme was "Transforming the Future of Engineering." The GETEA leadership team chose this theme because Georgia innovators have been working hard to brand this state as a hub for innovation and engineering initiatives. ITEEA’s Executive Director/CEO, Steve Barbato delivered the keynote address and his thoughts on the trends in our profession and the leadership we must provide schools to deliver quality technology and engineering education through an integrative STEM Education approach. The banquet was held at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum where a tour was provided.

During the conference, interest sessions were organized around the Georgia State High School Pathway Standards and the Middle School Course Standards along with some general interest sessions as well. ITEEA's Safety Specialist, Dr. Tyler Love, was the Saturday Luncheon Keynote. Dr. Love delivered a powerful presentation on safety issues and training needs in our field. All attendees left with a bundle of new materials and activities for their classrooms to launch into the second semester!
