Michael Sandell Becomes ITEEA 2019-2020 President

On March 30, 2019, Michael Sandell, DTE, assumed the office of President of the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA). The ceremony took place as part of ITEEA’s Annual Conference held March 27-30, 2019 in Kansas City, MO. 

ITEEA is the professional organization for technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators. Its mission is to promote technological and engineering literacy for all by supporting the teaching of technology and engineering and promoting the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. ITEEA strengthens the profession through leadership, professional development, membership services, publications, and classroom activities.

Michael Sandell is a Technology and Engineering Educator at Chisago Lakes High School in Lindstrom, MN. Before joining Chisago Lakes in 1992, he taught at Taylors Falls Public School in Taylors Falls, MN. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary’s University.

Sandell has also served on ITEEA’s Board of Directors as a Regional Director, as well as on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Technology and Engineering Educators Association. Additionally, he has been named a “Distinguished Technology and Engineering Educator” by ITEEA and has received both “Teacher Excellence” and “Program Excellence” awards.
