ITEEA Members Take All-Girl MATE ROV Team to Regional Competition

ITEEA members Deborah Marshall and Roger Lagesse sponsored a team at the recent Regional Marine Advanced Technical Education (MATE) ROV Underwater Robot competitions. The team is called the Granby Girls In Engineering team, which has been showcased at two ITEEA conferences and last year was featured in ITEEA's Technology and Engineering Teacher journal. Information about the MATE ROV program and Nauticus was also presented at the 2019 ITEEA Conference.

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Old Dominion University’s Recreation pool in Norfolk, VA, the team won "Best Design" of a Robot, "Best Marketing" and First Place!  This qualifies them to advance to the Marine Advanced Technical Education (MATE) ROV International Competition in Kingsport, TN June 20-22.  Members are looking forward to competing against other regional winners from around the world.
