Team STEAM Nation, a 501c3 dedicated to STEAM education in partnership with Kia Motors America (KMA) is excited to launch the Andretti FASTTRACK Xperience (AFX) – a program for middle and high school students that uses motorsports to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.). Andrettifx.org/kia is home to the videos and classroom lessons that are offered to educators and parents at no cost.
AFX uses engaging videos to illustrate STEAM concepts that can be viewed in the classroom, or at home for those students learning remotely during COVID. The videos are accompanied by hands-on educational lessons to reinforce those concepts. The first video, A Force to be Reckoned With, introduces Newton’s Laws of Motion through Jeff Andretti’s Indy500 crash in 1991.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be 8.05 million STEM jobs in 2028. STEM job growth is expected to outpace non-STEM growth through 2024. Enticing students to explore STEAM education and potential career paths will help to fill those jobs.
Kia Motors and Team STEAM Nation have joined forces to build an exciting program aimed at introducing STEAM concepts through the thrilling world of motorsports with one of the most recognized names in the sport, Andretti.
Andretti FASTTRACK Xperience offers educators access to FREE turn-key learning modules which feature streaming videos (episodes) and lessons that align to grade specific standards for ease of implementation, to utilize in the classrooms, both supplementing and enhancing their STEAM curriculum. The videos introduce S.T.E.A.M. concepts through motorsports scenarios with students interviewing subject matter experts to aid in understanding those concepts.
Jeff Andretti, son of motorsports legend Mario Andretti, founder of Andretti FASTTRACK Xperience explains: “Our family has benefited greatly from S.T.E.A.M. and creative visionaries thinking outside the box. We are a family of champions driven to succeed on and off the track.”
Kia Motors, a brand long known to young people for offering stylish, affordable vehicles such as the iconic Soul, award winning Telluride, and stylish Forte, saw an incredible opportunity in partnering with Team STEAM Nation. “Making Andretti FAST TRACK Xperience available to educators to engage their students in exciting and interactive STEAM lessons will positively impact the future workforce” said Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia Motors America.
AFX launches in select cities throughout the U.S. today with new videos and lessons being added in the coming months. The program is offered free to educators to view and download from AndrettiFX.org/Kia.
