STEM Center for Teaching and Learning Director of Innovation

Reports to: Executive Director/CEO

Full Time (37.5 hours); Exempt           

The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) is the professional organization for technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators. Our mission is to promote technological literacy for all by supporting the teaching of technology and engineering and promoting the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. General Description  
We are seeking a dedicated, energetic, and detail-oriented professional leader as ITEEA’s STEM Center for Teaching and Learning™ (STEM CTL™) Director of Innovation. The STEM CTL™ Director of Innovation’s key responsibilities are to lead innovative and entrepreneurial activities that further the profession, Association, and the STEM CTL™ in the core areas of responsibility. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develop and coordinate ITEEA’s innovative and entrepreneurial activities that further the profession, Association, and the STEM CTL™ in the core areas of responsibility. 
  • Identify, develop, and secure both short- and long-term projects that include funding to enhance the work of STEM CTL™ through grants, philanthropic foundations, etc. 
  • Lead special projects such as the STEMinar series, STEM Schools of Excellence certification program, REACH Challenge, etc. 
  • Create, manage, and lead innovative research initiatives aligned with Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy (STEL).
  • Develop strategic partnerships through the ITEEA STEM CTL™ that will advance our research agenda to further the technology and engineering/STEM education profession.
  • Work collaboratively with the STEM CTL™ Director of Learning to support the Engineering byDesign (EbD™) curriculum delivery, development, and associated professional learning. 
  • Build upon the EbD™ curriculum, professional learning, assessments, and research model program and grow the program to reach all states, provinces, and regions. 
  • The STEM CTL™ Director of Innovation is responsible for the delivery of teacher effectiveness through ongoing and
  • sustainable programs to strengthen the preparation of teachers at all grade levels to effectively include the study of
  • Integrative STEM Education subjects within the school curriculum and to involve Pre-K to 12 and higher education teachers directly in educational research, outreach, and best practice.
 
Consortium Leadership 
  • Assist the STEM CTL™ Director of Learning to develop products and services that provide leadership to the EbD™ Consortium States and EbD™ user base. 
  • Create opportunities to increase state, province, and regional participation in the EbD™ Consortium and curricular program. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Learning to support the Engineering byDesign™ network, programs, and product development cycle.
 
Integration with ITEEA Headquarters Staff 
Work with members of the STEM CTL™/EbD™ team and headquarters team to develop and support ITEEA’s products and services. Provide leadership to monitor and evaluate STEM CTL™ staff and consultant staff relating to performance and product deliverables. Work with staff and consultants to develop strategic plans for each core responsibility area as well as for their area of work. 
 
Requirements of the Position: 
  • Preparation, participation, and travel required for the ITEEA Annual Conference, all related professional learning sessions, and designated ITEEA Executive Committee/Board meetings (typically two per year).
  • Travel for purposes of promoting and representing ITEEA and the STEM CTL™.
  • Attendance at scheduled weekend and evening meetings is expected for this position.
  • Automobile to attend meetings, etc.
  • STEM CTL™ leadership for initiatives and personnel
  • Performance Evaluations/Reviews for EbD™ Contractors
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the operational features of the Engineering byDesign™ online system, EbD Buzz™ (LMS development)
  • Maintain office hours at ITEEA Headquarters (Flexibility for work schedules and remote-working is accommodated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
General 
  • Work with and support the ITEEA STEM Center for Teaching and Learning™ and Engineering byDesign™ network of states and schools. 
  • Assist with daily office administration such as answering phone calls, correspondence, and participating in staff meetings. 
  • Respond to email and other forms of communication inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Required Knowledge and Skills  
The successful applicant will communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing, and via telephone/digital meetings. Experience in the STEM education areas with specific knowledge of Technology and Engineering Education is preferred. Additionally, skill working with the Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrated ability to manage and maintain data records with accuracy and thoroughness.  
 
Salary and Benefits 
The starting salary (12 months) is $60,000 and negotiable based on applicant’s experience and abilities. The expected start date will be on or about August 1, 2021.
