Greetings ITEEA members!
As I wrap up my first 30 days with ITEEA as your new Executive Director/CEO, I am feeling beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to join your community of passionate educators.
As you may know, I am an association professional, not an educator. Prior to joining the association world, I practiced as an engineer. While a career as an engineer was not the best fit for me, my engineering background – grounded in learning by doing, critical thinking, and creative problem solving – has proven to be my greatest asset in pivoting to and succeeding in a different career path. As such, I believe so fully in ITEEA’s vision, mission, and pursuit of technological and engineering literacy for all, and I am committed to serving as the profession’s greatest champion and advocate.
ITEEA is a membership association and exists to serve you – our members – and the profession. Like many associations, ITEEA has navigated numerous challenges and transitions over the last 18 months. However, every challenge presents an opportunity, so this is also an exciting time for ITEEA to consider how we can adapt our programs, products, and services to best meet your needs and capitalize on new ideas. ITEEA has already taken specific steps to enhance our standards-based curriculum, strengthen professional development offerings, and add member value, and we will continue to do so. As the new Executive Director/CEO, one of the most important roles I have right now is to listen and learn what else the educator community needs and wants from us. As such, I want to personally invite each of you to share your feedback and ideas with me; for ITEEA to best serve you, we need to hear from you! I am confident that in the coming months my listening and learning will translate to action that benefits you and the profession.
Thank you for being on this journey with me and with the ITEEA community as a whole. Together, we will ensure that our educators are supported with the tools and resources they need to advance technological and engineering literacy, that the profession is positioned for growth and vitality, and that ITEEA is meeting the needs of you – our current and future educators and leaders.
