ITEEA Executive Director Represents ITEEA at Two Gatherings

July 26, 2022

ITEEA Executive Director, Kelly Dooley, recently participated as part of the following meetings, representing the association:

STEM Leadership Alliance

The STEM Leadership Alliance is focused on breaking down the barriers to changing STEM from an acronym to a cross-cutting approach that connects the content across grade levels. At the 2022 Summit, Dooley represented ITEEA on a keynote panel with individuals from IEEE, NCTM, and NSTA, sharing strategies and discussing how to overcome barriers to effectively implement integrative STEM. These same representatives co-facilitated a hands on workshop, showcasing integrative STEM in action. Throughout the Summit, attendees were exposed to the many ways our professional associations can aid educators in the classroom through resources, learning opportunities, and community building.

Noyce Summit

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program seeks to encourage talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science (including engineering and computer science) teachers. The program invites creative and innovative proposals that address the critical need for recruiting and preparing highly effective elementary and secondary science and mathematics teachers in high-need local educational agencies. The 2022 Noyce Summit marked the 20 year anniversary of the program, and Dooley was invited to join leaders from NCTM and NSTA to kick off day one and share the many resources and opportunities available through STEM education-related professional associations, including membership, professional learning, and networking. After the presentation, Noyce scholars and fellows mixed and mingled at the Resource Fair, learning more about all ITEEA and its related organizations have to offer.
