This session will challenge you to code a TI Rover to avoid hitting a dog! Using the relationship between distance, time, and speed, you will try to get rover as close to scruffy as possible without making contact. Students LOVE this activity! You can borrow TI gear for free to do this project!

Coding is essential to today's tech learning; however, having raw tech skills is just one part of the student-success equation. Software development is much more than just coding. Combining coding, development process, big picture thinking and foundational career skills such as communication and teamwork are all keys to success in providing the right kind of learning in the classroom. Join us to explore how to make the classroom experience have a better "why" and design-in fundamental skills beyond just coding.

With the Hour of Engineering from Siemens, the "E" in STEM has a place to shine. Together we will explore why engineering is essential and how it can be used to provide a foundation for purposeful, fun, and rigorous learning. You will be able to identify how to connect online learning with hands-on offline activities accessible to all learners. We will locate the best methods for assessing individual and group activities. Finally, you can experience activities for yourself and develop an implementation strategy to bring back to your learning environment. Whether you are new to STEM or a seasoned educator, Hour of Engineering will help you provide activities with a purpose that prepares your students to think and act like engineers and show them that anyone can be an engineer!
